How do you answer calls on Sony earbuds WF 1000XM4? ›

When you hear a ring tone, tap the touch sensor on the left or right unit of the headset twice (with an interval of about 0.3 seconds) and receive the call. A voice will be heard from the headset.

Play/Pause: Tap the touch sensor control panel twice quickly (with an interval of about 0.4 seconds). Skip to the beginning of the next track: Swipe forward and release. Skip to the beginning of the previous track (or the current track during playback): Swipe backward and release. Fast-forward: Swipe forward and hold.

Play/Pause: Tap the touch sensor. Skip to the beginning of the next track: Tap the touch sensor twice quickly (with an interval of about 0.3 seconds). Skip to the beginning of the previous track (or the current track during playback): Tap the touch sensor 3 times quickly (with an interval of about 0.3 seconds).

Incoming call

Tap the touch sensor control panel twice quickly to answer a call.

Tap Connected devices

Under "Previously connected devices," tap the cog button next to your Bluetooth earbuds. If you don't see the device, tap See all and find it in the list of Bluetooth devices. Tap the cog button next to it. Make sure that Phone calls option is enabled.

If the mobile device supports both Hands-free Profile (HFP) and Headset Profile (HSP), set it to HFP. The headphones support normal incoming calls only.

Check that both the headset and the connected device (i.e., smartphone) are turned on. Turn up the volume of the connected device and the volume of the headset if they are too low. Check the audio settings of the Bluetooth device to make sure the sound comes from the headset during a call.

WH-1000XM4

Press the CUSTOM button to use Google Assistant. Press and hold the button to input a voice command. Press the button twice quickly to cancel the voice command. Press the button once to read out the notification.

WF-1000XM4

If you put on the headphones, you will hear a notification sound and the voice guidance saying Bluetooth pairing from both units. To pair the headphones with a second device, put the headphones into both ears, and then hold your fingers to the touch sensors on both units for at least 5 seconds.

Tap the touch sensor on the left unit to change the settings of the noise canceling function. Each time you tap, the function switches as follows. You will hear the voice guidance say, “Ambient sound”. You will hear the voice guidance say, “Noise canceling”.

Try going into the "Control Panel" and select "Devices and Printers". Right click on the WH-1000XM4 and select "Properties". In the "Services" tab, check the box next to "Handsfree Telephony". After I got that selected, my microphone worked fine.

Connect the headset to a smartphone/mobile phone via Bluetooth connection. Operate your smartphone or mobile phone to make a call. When you make a call, the dial tone is heard from the headset. If you make a call while you are listening to music, playback pauses.
