6. 105 animals in barn chickens and rabbits 360 legs how many of each?
Sep 16, 2023 · ... animals with a combined total of 360 feet ... Subjects>Math>Math & Arithmetic · 105 animals in barn chickens and ...
You have to setup two different equations first. One to get the total number of animals and another to get the total number of feet. Since all the chickens plus all the rabbits equals 105 animals, c + r = 105. Since chickens have two feet and rabbits have four feet with the given total as 360, 2c + 4r =360. Then we will define the first equation in terms of "r" by finding the value for "c" in the second equation. 2c + 4r = 360 2c = 360 - 4r c= 180 -2r Now we will substitute this value for "c" into the first equation. c + r = 105 (180 - 2r) + r = 105 180 - r = 105 r = 75 So, there are 75 rabbits. Then to find the number of chickens, we plug in the numerical value for "r" in the first equation. c + r = 105 c + 75 = 105 c = 30 There are 75 rabbits and 30 chickens. This equals 105 animals with a combined total of 360 feet.
